Situated right on the main A390, the Old Rectory enables you to take many different routes for your day out. There is a bus stop 150 yards away, and the train station (Bere Alston) is 3 miles. There are two lovely pubs nearby and some beautiful walks.
The site consists of eleven tree-lined touring bays, eight of which have electric hook up facility. We have four new timber camping pods, these have internal electric lights and a small oil filled heater. There is room for approximately twenty tents in the camping area.
The recently extended shower block now boasts 5 showers in total and
full disabled facilities. Free hot water. There
are also grey waste disposal laundry facilities (chargeable) and a washing
up area. Chemical disposal point, free use of freezer for ice blocks.
We also hold a small stock of camping gas canisters, spare tent pegs
We have a generous play area, with swings, slide and look-out post, all standing on soft bark. A large grassed area with a goal post for a kick around, and seating for the less energetic.
This rural part of the countryside has an abundance of wildlife, with plenty of rabbits to see, possibly badgers and foxes, and if you are really lucky maybe some deer.
We have now developed a smallholding around the campsite, with miniature Shetland ponies, free range Light Sussex chickens, Pedigree Gloucestershire Old Spot Pigs, and Kune Kune pigs. From this, we sell our very own produce, bacon, sausages and eggs. We stock a small fridge beside the shower block, and just have a good old fashioned honesty box for payment. From time to time there may also be some home grown veg, if Sheila is doing well in the poly tunnel.
